At the heart of the video are the narratives and reflections of over thirty lesbian bridesmaids from Rochester, Buffalo, Toronto, and San Francisco. From resentment over the lack of recognition of their female wedding dates, to heartbreak over serving as bridesmaid for a former lover, to anger over having been asked to de-dike their appearance, lesbian interviewees reveal a surprising host of emotions and a deep knowledge about this seemingly innocuous role.

Being a lesbian nowadays is like being a feminist with knowing it. One does not claim it, one lives it. There is the before and the after coming-out. The visibility, the "lesbian pride" matured and grew up thanks to the militant activism, the chat networks, the commercial sites, the associative press, the coming out of the closet, the fashion artists, the birth of a community… "Lesbien raisonable" tells a contemporary story of the last 4-5 years, describing the state of affairs of the French-speaking lesbian scene (France, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland). Excerpts of short and long motion pictures, experimental films, documentary films directed by and for lesbians, video-archives concerning lesbian events and wonderful images presenting inns, as well as interviews of lesbian, is what this "cocktail" is made of.

Brandon's short hair, boyish features, cowboy clothes and confident smile help sketch his natural charm; yet it is those qualities independent of gender - innocence, optimism, tenderness and loyalty - which win the love of Lana and the trust of John. Ignorance, fear and a threatened sense of manhood, however, overcome the town's "real men" and determine the story's violent dénouement.Although "Boys Don't Cry" touches upon the issues that concern the difference between being a lesbian and being a woman who feels she is a man, the film is most succesful in emphasizing the other characters' ignorance-driven hatred and their use of violence as a manifestation of their particular sense of "manhood".

In these depressingly dreary surroundings the son imagines a luxurious dream kitchen, in which he plucks the courage to tell his astonished parents the good news: "I'm gay." Axel vista hoje a sua familia numa Datscha nos arredores de Berlim. Com ele está Michael (Mike) o seu companheiro. Axel quer que Michael conheça a sua família, mas não tem intenção de apresentá-lo como seu companheiro, muito menos afirmar-se como homosexual. Para Mike a mentira é sempre mentira, mas o espírito infantil de Axel não dita assim. Durante a refeição o irmão de Axel (Dietmar) embriaga-se. Também para ele a verdade devia vir ao de cima e desafia o seu irmão para um jogo, "Flaschedrehen" (verdade ou consequência). Prevendo as intenções do irmão Axel excusa-se deixando Dietmar a pressionar a sua mãe. A confusão que daí resulta deixa o Pai prepelexo com a súbita violência de Dietmar. O Pai tenta acalmar Dietmar mas este enfurece-se e deixa a festa. Neste momento, Axel decide revelar-se. O pai ainda baralhado pela atiude de Dietmar não presta atenção a Axel. Quando finalmente pergunta a Axel o que ele tem para dizer, Axel perdeu a vontade e a coragem de falar. Mike está profundamente desapontado. A familia diverte-se com uma sessão de fotografias. Parecm fazer tudo para encenar uma felicidade cheia de buracos. Depois disto Mike não conseguirá encarar a relação com Mike da mesma forma. Flaschenderehen é assim uma not-coming-out story. É uma história acerca do medo de se encarar a verdade e de falar acerca dela. Fazer este filme foi particularmente importante para mim numa altura em que, apesar da Christopher Street Day e da crescente vocação de Berlim como cidade "tolerante", os arredores da capital alemã e o estado envolvente de Brandenburgo, continuam a manifestar de novo de forma procupante, sinais evidentes de intolerância.

Axel sees his family today in a Datscha on the outskirts of Berlin. With him is Michael (Mike) his companion. Axel wants Michael to meet his family, but he has no intention of presenting him as his partner, much less declaring himself homosexual. For Mike, a lie is always a lie, but Axel's childish spirit doesn't dictate it that way. During the meal, Axel's brother (Dietmar) gets drunk. For him, too, the truth must come out and he challenges his brother to a game, "Flaschedrehen" (truth or dare). Anticipating his brother's intentions, Axel excuses himself, leaving Dietmar to pressure his mother. The resulting confusion leaves the Father preoccupied with Dietmar's sudden violence. The Father tries to calm Dietmar down but he gets angry and leaves the party. At this moment, Axel decides to reveal himself. The father, still confused by Dietmar's attitude, doesn't pay attention to Axel. When he finally asks Axel what he has to say, Axel has lost the will and courage to speak. Mike is deeply disappointed. The family has fun with a photo session. They seem to do everything they can to stage happiness full of holes. After this, Mike will not be able to view his relationship with Mike in the same way. Flaschenderehen is thus a not-coming-out story. It's a story about the fear of facing the truth and talking about it. Making this film was particularly important for me at a time when, despite Christopher Street Day and Berlin's growing vocation as a "tolerant" city, the surroundings of the German capital and the surrounding state of Brandenburg continue to express themselves in a promising way again. , clear signs of intolerance.
