Nicolas Luhel, um jovem oficial da judiciária, chega a Plouescat, uma aldeia no norte de Finisterra. A polícia quer esclarecer as circunstâncias que envolvem a morte de um adolescente, numa queda num porto. A mãe do rapaz acusa o seu ex-marido, Serge Tanguy, de ter perpetrado o crime, mas o motivo do crime permanece por esclarecer. A violência da tragédia, a força da natureza e a solidão acabam por despertar em Nicolas ansiedades e desejos, antes ocultos. Fragilizado pelo suicídio da testemunha principal, ele deixa-se seduzir pela estranha fascinação exercida por Tanguy em todos os que o rodeiam.

Nicolas Luhel, a young officer in the judiciary police, arrives in Plouescat, a village in North Finistère. The police wants to make clear the circumstances surrounding an adolescent's death, a fall from a nearby port's dam. The boy's mother accuses her ex- husband, Serge Tanguy, of being the perpetrator of the crime, but the motive of the murder remains unclear. The violence of the tragedy, the wild landscapes, and the loneliness soon wake in Nicolas unknown anxieties and drives. Made fragile by the principal witness' suicide he lets himself be contaminated by the turbid fascination that Tanguy exerts on those that are around him.

Pela primeira vez na história da República Francesa, dois jovens gays, Stéphane Chapin e Bertrand Charpentier trocaram alianças perante o Presidente da Câmara e perante todo o país. Jean-Michel Vennemani filmou a intimidade dos dois noivos nas três semanas antes do casamento. Por sua vez, Yves Jeuland acompanhou Noël Mamère, os seus colaboradores e advogados. Mamère pretendia lançar o debate político sobre o casamento homossexual. Conseguiu mais do que esperava: retiradas de apoio, ameaças de morte e pressões políticas. Divertido, violento e emotivo, este documentário é um importante contributo a este mesmo debate ao desvendar as premissas que se escondem por detrás deste acto simbólico: a posta em causa dos princípios do sacrossanto matrimónio, tal qual é ritualizado pela Igreja.

On the 5th June 2004, the small town of Bègles is thrown to the centre of an unprecedented political, juridical and media turmoil. Noël Mamère celebrated the matrimony between two men. For the first time in the history of the French Republic, two young gays, Stéphane Chapin and Bertrand Charpentier, exchanged vows in front of the Mayor and the whole country. Jean-Michel Vennemani recorded the two grooms' intimacy in the three weeks before the marriage. On the other hand, Yves Jeuland accompanied the daily struggles of Noël Mamère, his collaborators and lawyers. Mamère intended to launch the political debate on gay marriage. He achieved more than he expected: sponsorship backdrops, death threats and political pressure. Funny, violent and emotional, this documentary is an important contribute to this same debate by unveiling the premises hidden under this symbolic act: the questioning of the sacrosanct principles of marriage, as ritualized by the church.
