Alex and Kiki meet at the university where they are both studying, but their love story begins in a Bucharest apartment block. Alex rents a room in the home of an old lady, a warm but lonely hypochondriac. Kiki lives in the same building and she and Alex become inseparable. They spend their days with one another and sleep together in Alex's room. As their relationship develops quickly, the two girls reveal very different natures. Alex's strong personality is concealed under an outwardly quiet disposition. She wishes to study so as not to disappoint her practical, simple parents. Kiki meanwhile hides her emotional instability behind a histrionic and extravagant facade. Love Sick follows the development of the bond between the two girls. However, the tone of the film changes when Sandu, Kiki's brother, intervenes. Sandu is tormented by an unnatural jealousy which makes us suspect an incestuous liaison between the two siblings. Summer comes, and Alex invites Kiki to her parents' home in the country. There they find a reassuring, bucolic world - the world of Alex's childhood. Until one day, unexpectedly, Sandu shows up.

The Other Half, the final part of La metamorfosi di Fluvio/a (2004), recounts the ups and downs, the joys and woes a married couple from Peveragno, a small town in the province of Cuneo, Switzerland, go through over a 2-year period. After 20 years of being married to Marisa, Fluvio finally musters up the courage to tell her he wants to end the lie he has lived for the past 43 years and wants to undergo a sex change. The film retraces the first two years of his metamorphosis into a woman. But besides following Fluvio turning into Fluvia, the film also shows Marisa's staunch loyalty and patience, plaguing doubts and shifting emotional and mental attitudes in her attempts to soothe her "unusual" husband's anger, unhappiness and fear.
